EMOTIONS
Branding, Typography
A visual taxonomy portraying my emotions.
A project to let people know that they are not alone.

Human emotions are complex. You may think you completely know someone but soon find out a side of them you’ve never encountered before. There are so many layers within a person. It is unimaginable to see the end. Especially the eye, where it’s almost impossible to hide. A window of the soul. Therefore the following works are all related to the eye.

100 Emotions
A storyboard made depicting my emotions. A story of the many emotions I and we feel every day and how it differs within a day.

Narrative Storyboard
The print form of the storyboard made depicting emotions.
A personal diary using my emotions as a language.
The visual translation of my illogical and free emotions.
A stream of consciousness.

Interpretive Charts
The visual interpretation of emotions shown as interpretive
charts. Though some may be represented in one word, some are just impossible. Some may be felt due to huge force while some may occur unexpectedly. To illustrate that factor, I hardly gave any logic to the words. Parts had some overlapping factors while some popped out of the blue. Simply a stream of consciousness.

Design Process

100 sketches
To convey as many as possible, I started doing 100 sketches. While drawing them, I tried to convey the variation of emotions. Starting with the basic 7. Anger, fear, disgust, happiness, sadness, surprise, and contempt.

Selecting 12 drawings from the 100 sketches that were based from emotions, I made 2 iterations and 2 material translations of each. One as ink and the other in digital video form.
